Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This statistics course will introduce you to fundamental statistical procedures, such as descriptive statistics, needed to understand concepts and analyze quantitative data used in the social sciences (e.g., psychology, sociology, political science, social work, education, etc.). This course is a supplement for Statistics I (taught by Dr. Marcus Hudec), emphasizing an analytical understanding and mathematical computational approach. At the end of the course students will be able to understand basic statistics, as well as solve basic statistical problems. This course is a foundation course for advanced statistics.Student Learning Outcomes: Upon completing this course, students will demonstrate understanding of the key elements in introductory behavioral statistical analysis. Students will be able to understand and compute measures of central tendency and variability, various measures of associations, as well as demonstrate an understanding of basic analysis of variance and basic probability. Students will show their understanding of the course material through successful performance on homework exercises, assessment exams, as well as in-class discussions.
