Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
LV-Inhalt (Englisch) This lecture deals with practical problems in the design and implementation of a survey: How to draw a representative sample? Why can a sample estimate depart from known distributions ? How can better coherence be achieved? Which role plays weighting for the precision of statistical tests. How to deal with nonresponse ? Students are invited to present their own research problems which may be addressed in particular during the course (for organizational reasons advance notice is recommended).

Presentation, written examination and paper
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Introduction in sampling designs, training of practical skills required to achieve a sample; introduction in weighting and imputation procedures.
Examination topics
Introduction and practical exercises on the PC, mainly in SPSS including simple syntax and macro programming.
