Aims, contents and method of the course

Aims
- Being able to distinguish scientific knowledge from other forms of knowledge.
- Knowing the central concepts of cognitive and scientific theory and their relevance
for scientific practice.
- Knowing relevant scientific theoretical positions, their importance for the acquisition
of knowledge and the type of research and being able to argue with regard to the
practice of nursing science.
- Discussing the social significance of science and its limitations and reflecting the
relationship between science and society.
- Knowing practices of knowledge production in the 21st century.

METHODS
The course is designed as a lecture. The teaching contents are lecture-centered.

Assessment and permitted materials

The course evaluation takes place through a written examination at the end of the semester. A questionnaire of possible exam questions will be provided. No aids are allowed. Part of the lecture on November 22, 2018 is dedicated to the exam preparation.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The grades for the written examination are composed as follows:
Maximum of 60 points, minimum requirement of 31 points
60 - 54 Points = Very good (1)
53 - 46 Points = good (2)
45 - 38 points = satisfactory (3)
37 - 31 points = sufficient (4)
30 and less = insufficient (5)

Examination topics

The basis is the content of the course. The exam consists of ten questions from an available questionnaire. The assessment criteria are the correctness and completeness of the answers.
