Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This course wants to bring the specific demographic aspects of changing population size and structures into the context of broader global social, economic and environmental trends. It will do so by referring to systemic approaches that range from comprehensive quantitative (global) models to qualitative and more policy oriented approaches. Special emphasis will be given to the interactions between demographic trends and climate change. Here a specific focus will be on the population component of the SSPs (Shared Socioeconomic Pathways) which are now widely being used in climate change analysis including the recent IPCC reports.
