Aims, contents and method of the course
Assessment and permitted materials
Written exam and essay for the module (VO Propädeutikum and VO Introduction to Social and Cultural Anthropology). Please email your student assistant (julia.bernegger@univie.ac.at) if you will take the exam in English.You can find information on the exam format in times of Corona via the learning platform moodle!!! Update: The exam will be held online via the Moodle platform. You will receive a sheet with questions to download and upload your answers (in whole sentences please) again via Moodle. We also use Moodle for communication so please make sure that you are inscribed in the Moodle course.

100% to 87% = Excellent (1)
86,99% to 75,00 % = Good (2)
74,99 % to 63,00 % = Satisfactory (3)
62,99 % to 50, 00% = Sufficient (4)

The presentation of each of the topics includes an introduction to major questions, central theoreticals concepts and selected case studies. Thereby, special attention will also be directed to interconnections between different topics as well as specific regional contexts (especially Latin America, South Asia and North Africa). The lecture will provide students with an idea of the range of topics covered by the discipline, it provides them with basic knowledge and orientation for new students and competences concerning a wealth of recent research fields of cultural and social anthropology.
