The course focuses on the introduction to anthropological educational research on an international level. Building on the authoritative work in this field of research, educational anthropology deals with both formal and informal upbringing and education in the context of identity and change. A central concern is to enable a change of perspective, i.e. not only to document culturally diverse educational contexts, but also to understand them and make them transculturally applicable in a globalised educational situation.
An important component of the lecture is to familiarise students with the practice of anthropological educational research, which is ensured through the presentation of case studies and guest lectures.
Introduction to the theoretical foundations of research in educational anthropology
Anthropological fields of work in education
Indigenous concepts of education
Linguistic educational anthropology
Flight and school (inter)national

The lectures are held in media-supported lectures by the course instructor and are supplemented by discussions.
The course leader makes the documents (PowerPoint slides) and further literature available on a Moodle platform. In addition, the online forums of the platform can be used for exchange and communication.
Guest lectures expand the regional and research-specific level of the course.
