Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Critical reflection on development cooperation, development policy, its actors and dynamics from a historical and contemporary perspective. Discussion of current topics and challenges in development cooperation and development policy topics based on English language specialist literature (weekly reading assignments).

The semester begins with introductory units by the lecturers. During the second part of the semester, specialized literature (academic papers and book chapters) will be discussed in several plenary sessions in different formats. The remaining units are designed by student groups themselves focusing on specialized topics.

This course will also focus on writing methods of scientific texts. The literature is therefore not just read for information purpose, but also analyzed according to methods used and style etc. The course will provide helpful input for writing your own academic essays. In addition, presentation and moderation techniques (to be tested by the student groups) will be discussed.
