Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The course is to be held entirely on site (compulsory attendance!) and will be divided into four sections:
1) Introduction (overview, forms, actors and institutions of development policy).
2) History (from the 1950s to today)
3) Discipline-specific discussions (e.g. intersectionality, sustainability, post-development)
4) Practice of development policy

Method: Discussion of weekly basic texts; face-to-face teaching.

Assessment and permitted materials

Active participation, weekly homework assignments (answering questions on basic text, 650 words).

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

No exams. Submission of at least 10 homework assignments on basic texts.
As a prerequisite for participation in this course, we expect basic knowledge in the field of development studies. This knowledge is taught in the AG (EC-EF2) Introduction to International Development. Thus, the AG should be completed in any case before taking a GM2 course.
