Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

In this exercise, students will gain an overview of the most common challenges and methodological approaches in qualitative empirical social research and how to deal with their practical consequences. In addition to methodological toolkits (sampling, access, investigation and evaluation), theoretical and ethical challenges that we encounter in research practice will be reflexively addressed. Using specific cases of application, the critical handling of one's own possibilities (within a team structure) will be tested, and participants sensitised for their own inter-actions.

In this course, participants acquire practical knowledge about
d. Fundamentals of applied research design along methodological and methodical premises;
e. Reflexive approaches towards their own role and actions as researcher in interaction with research participants, co-researchers and other stakeholders;
f. application of selected research methods on primary data material collection and analysis, based on an applied research project in a team effort.
