Aims, contents and method of the course

Die Vorlesung bietet eine Einführung in die deutschsprachige und internationale Medizinanthropologie (Medical Anthropology, Medizinethnologie bzw. Ethnomedizin), ihre Ideengeschichte, ihre Themen und Relevanzen. Erörtert werden insbesondere folgende Themen/Aspekte:

o Kulturalität von Kranksein, Heilen und Körperlichkeit; health seeking behaviour

o Kurieren und Heilen

o Ideengeschichte und gesellschaftspolitische Relevanz der Medizinanthropologie

o Unterscheidung disease, illness, sickness, suffering

o Ansätze der Medical Anthropology

o Medizinischer Pluralismus

o Divination und Ritual

o medizinische Schrifttraditionen

o Biomedizin als Forschungsgegenstand der Medizinanthropologie

o Politische Ökonomie der Krankheit

o Medical Anthropology und Public Health

o Medikalisierung und Genetisierung

o Körper und Leiblichkeit

o Migration und Gesundheit

Die Studierenden haben einen fundierten Einblick in die Ideengeschickte, den gegenwärtigen Diskussionsstand und die gesundheitspolitische Relevanz der Medizinanthropologie und kennen die wichtigsten Ansätze, Konzepte und Diskussionen.
