Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

In this course we will examine the debate on research perspectives (theories and methods) in the Global South.

Traditionally, research perspectives were mainly developed in central countries (Global North) and the periphery (Global Soouth) had mainly two functions: recipient of (Global North) knowledge and its application in (field) studies in the Global South.

Researchers from the Global South have begun to challenge the domination and universalistic claims of the Global North. Additionally, we will critically analyze genuine contributions to research perspectives and methodology from a Global South point of view: the work of Silvia Rivera Cusicanqui, assabya (Ibn Khladun), and Global south feminist perspectives.

All texts will be provided as pdf files.

Learning Outcomes
