Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Consumerism is a central topic of our time, therefore in this lecture we will focus on the history of consumption and consumerism.
For guidance we will do so along the magnificent work of Frank Trentman "Empire of Things" to build basic understanding of anthropological and historical methods.

Assessment and permitted materials

Active participation in class, presentation and seminar paper

deadline: abstract for seminarpaper 2. April (2 pages including topic, research question, literature and timetable)

seminarpaper must be handed in as manuscript until 18th of June - after feedback can be finally edited.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

ALLE oben genannten Leistungen müssen (positiv) erbracht werden, bei Versäumung von Fristen, oder negativer Beurteilung gibt es die Möglichkeit einer Überarbeitung bzw. verspäteten (aber dafür bereits schlechter bewerteten) Abgabe
