Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This lecture series aims at discussing theories relating to the state, nation-nationalism, and economics in the scope of present (neoliberal) crises. If we look back at the beginning of globalization studies in anthropology, and other social sciences, there was a an expression of 'uncertainty' which was positively linked to the possibility of new social formations; e.g. Appadurai's concept of global cultural economy, and imagination as a characteristic of social life. Today, uncertainty is rather connected to disquiet and fear.
