Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This seminar will discuss the state of the art in the anthropology of art. While this subdiscipline of anthropology was quite peripheral during the 1970s -1980s, it got a new impetus during the 1990s, and has today an important position within the whole discipline. This is partly due to the fact that art is nowadays an important medium for the production of culture.Various approaches will be dealt with, in particular:- research in contemporary art;- anthropology and contemporary art(ists),- global art;- art markets- local art worlds.extended literature from art theories will be included
