Da Geschwister selten im Mittelpunkt des sozialanthropologischen Interesses standen, werden wir an verschiedenen Stellen „graben“ müssen, um den Konzepten, Ideen und Praktiken der Beziehung zwischen Brüdern und Schwestern auf die Spur zu kommen. Die Variabilität dieser Beziehungen verweist dabei zugleich auf die Schwierigkeit wie das Potential von Geschwisterbeziehungen als Einstiegspunkt in Fragen von Flexibilität und Stabilität wenn Menschen ihre kulturellen Ideen über Verwandtschaft in sich wandelnden Umständen anwenden. Die TeilnehmerInnen sollten über Grundkenntnisse in der Verwandtschaftsanthropologie verfügen.
