Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

In this course we will engage with some of the latest gender-related research done in and on the space that used to be socialist Yugoslavia. Throughout the academic year, we will be joined by a group of activist scholars who explore topics ranging from Roma feminism, Islamophobia, homonationalism, queer-friendly psychotherapy, masculinity, trans and intersex activism, international relations, racism, and lesbian sexuality. Our discussions will centre around the challenges of producing knowledge about semiperipheral spaces in the wake of socialism.

Discussion

Group presentation of the assigned reading ahead of each lecture (Übung).

In case you would prefer not to do a presentation, you can do two AQCIs.

Please reflect critically upon a concept or a set of concepts of your interest positioning it/them in the context of the Ringvorlesung and your own experience.

Please submit two developed AQCIs

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Questions can be asked and presentations done in German too.
All lectures are open to the public, in-person only.
This is a two-semester course coordinated by Dr Bojan Bilić.
