Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The seminar aims at creating basic understanding of the interconnectedness of films and genres beyond the established distinction of fiction and documentation. Especially in the case of anthropology a tight relationship between the scientific discipline and mainstream cinema exists since the beginning of cinematography. 'Entanglements' do occur in content, form, imagery or presentation of specific cultural traits and oral traditions or visual traditions and in many cases anthropology acts as a 'blueprint'. The seminar is based on active participation and debate, using different media.
