Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Prerequisite for a positive grade is a successful short presentation with the presentation, reflection and interpretation of an object of material culture, as well as the written elaboration and processing of this object, whereby both a theoretical embedding and reference to methodological approaches must be mentioned.
The evaluation is based on a point system: 16 points are awarded. 0-8 points = insufficient; 9-10 points = sufficient; 11-12 points = satisfactory; 13-14 points = good; 15-16 points = very good.

Examination topics
Presentations will be given in the seminar. In the course of their reflection and criticism in the plenum, hints for the written elaboration are given, which are topic-related in each case.
Reading list
In the seminar, appropriate literature references will be given during the presentations; likewise in the two introductory double lessons. A literature list with basic works that are useful for working on the assigned tasks will be handed out in the first half of the seminar. It also contains further literature.

The aim is to reflect on iconic objects and in doing so to answer the question why individual objects can attain outstanding significance while other similar objects remain unnoticeable. Is it "only" the materiality, the processing and the context-bound use of the objects? Or are there more complex stories behind them, where cultu, ritual, politics and religion and fashion trends mix?
At the end of the seminar, participants should have a much greater awareness of how to deal with objects and the far-reaching consequences they can trigger.
