Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Principal fiber bundles are a fundamental tool in differential geometry and global analysis, where they provide the language for understanding curvature and for studying the interplay between geometry, analysis and topology. In mathematical physics they set the stage for gauge theories and the standard model of particle physics. This course provides an introduction to the topic, mainly following the book [1] by Helga Baum.
Assessment and permitted materials
Oral Exam
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
To follow the course, knowledge of Lie groups, analysis on manifolds, as well as some basics of (semi-)Riemannain geometry is required. The exam will test the working knowledge of the course material.
