Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

In connection with the lecture and tutorial given in summer term 2010 according to School Mathematics 2 (Geometry) in this seminar certain topics on didactics of geometry should be discussed. Basic literature is the book "Didaktik der Geometrie für die Sekundarstufe I" by Hans-Georg Weigand et al., which is published (in German) in Spektrum Akademischer Verlag 2009, Heidelberg. Key-words from the content: Aims of geometrical education, proving and arguing, constructing, problem solving, learning and teaching conceptions, plane figures and solids, area and volume, symmetry and congruence, similarity, trigonometry, geometry and geometry education. Besides didactical considerations according to the singular themes parts of instructional preperations should be developed, the geometrical background should be explained, curriculum, educational standards and regulations of the partly central competence based leaving examination (as far as we know them today) should be kept in mind. The use of dynamical geometry software (DGS, e.g. GeoGebra) during geometry lessons will be also reflected.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Becoming competent to integrate geometrical themes in the own instruction preparation with respect to mathematical and educational concepts.

Lectures given by students, alone or in pairs.
