Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Elementary Geometry is actually situated in the entire secondary school ("Gymnasium") in Austria. So there are many themes which can be treated in mathematics education. In the lecture triangles, plane congruence maps,
congruence theorems, Ceva's theorem, the Euler line, the Pythagorean theorem and related theorems, quadrangles, elementary attributes of the circle, similarity, Desargues' theorem, intercept theorems, the volume of solids and other subjects will be discussed. In this context it is important to
develop stringently the contents in order to make clear the red line which
connects the different parts of the lecture. Otherwise Geometry would be a
sample of more or less interesting phenomena. In addition it is self-evident
due to the nature of the lecture that a didactical evaluation of the given
matters will happen. So this assessment can relieve the necessary
classification which has to be done before integrating a special topic in
the future own instruction.
