Aims, contents and method of the course

Continuation of the course "Introduction to linear algebra and geometry". Topics: determinants, characteristic polynomial, eigenvalues and diagonalizability of linear mappings, normal forms, inner product spaces and special linear maps on such spaces, applications to
Euclidean geometry, possibly some multilinear algebra.

Assessment and permitted materials

written or oral exam after the end of the course

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Understanding the theory of linear mappings from a vector space to itself and of the role of polynomails in the study of such mappings. Knowing the role of inner products in linear algebra and their relations to Euclidean geometry.
