Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

In this seminar we deal with all mathematical aspects of (partial) differential equations, from theoretical analysis to classical and modern, data driven, numerical methods.

Topics related to
* modelling,
* numerical analysis ,
* numerical methods,
* computational aspects
will be offered. Within certain constraints, topics freely chosen by students can be pursued.

Possible topics:
* PDEs in astro / quantum - physics, engineering, biology, social sciences, economy, finance, etc.;
* ordinary or partial differential equations, e.g., Schrödinger / wave type equations, Vlasov & Boltzmann equations, fluid dynamic equations.

At least two of the following aspects should be covered: modeling, analysis, numerical methods, computer simulations.

Each student develops a selected topic for an oral presentation and a written report, under the guidance of one (or two) of the professors but otherwise independently.

Assessment and permitted materials

Classroom presentation (25 minutes, slides or blackboard) and a written report.
