Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This lecture will give an introduction to the history of mathematics. We will cover early mathematics in Egypt and Mesopotamia, Greek mathematics of the Hellenistic period, Islamic and European medieval mathematics, and mathematics at the beginning of the modern age. Assessment and permitted materials

Written or oral exam after the end of the semester.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The course shall give an insight into the development of mathematical thinking.
