Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This course continues the course «Numerische Mathematik» («Numerical Mathematics») from the BSc curriculum in Mathematics. The course will focus on the following topics: iterative methods for linear systems, eigenvalue problem in the finite-dimensional case, numerical interpolation and integration in several dimensions, optimization methods for nonlinear systems of equations in several dimensions, the numerical solution of ordinary differential equations, the numerical solution of partial differential equations (introduction to finite-difference and finite-element methods), fast Fourier transform.
Assessment and permitted materials
Oral examination (with no aids allowed).
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The basic knowledge of the numerical methods presented in the course (including their properties and analysis techniques).
