polytopes (= convex hulls of a finite number of points in R^d), which we will approach from a combinatorial point of view. Much of our geometric
intuition for R^d is derived from life in R^3 and one fascinating feature of the theory of convex polytopes is to see, when and how this intuition fails. We plan to follow Günter Ziegler's book "Lectures on polytopes".
