Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The lecture course is concerned with the formulation and solution of global optimization problems in finitely many variables. This NP-hard problem will be analyzed, and various solution strategies will be discussed. After an introduction to linear optimization and interval analysis we will consider linear and quadratic relaxations, convex (outer) approximations, automatic enclosures, automatic differentiation, semidefinite relaxations, and constraint propagation.

Prerequisites are Analysis, Linear Algebra, and Nonlinear Optimization.
