Aims, contents and method of the course

According to the participant's interest: a topic from modelling or visualization.

Concerning modelling an introduction and hands on experience with the level set method would constitute an interesting topic. This method can be applied to a large a variety of problems: spread of fire fronts, automatic segmentation of images (e.g. automatic delineation of various tissues in a CT scan), optimization problems and many others. For an overview see
http://math.berkeley.edu/~sethian/2006/Applications/Menu_Expanded_Applications.html

Alternatively, an other topic in modelling or on visualization can be pursued of so desired.
