Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Stochastics (probability theory and statistics) is one of the most important areas of school mathematics, becaus basic knowledge in this area is useful in everyday life and is needed in many different studies and professions. Unfortunately many teachers do not cover or not sufficiently cover this area in school. This lecture is meant to be a contribution for improving this situation and wants to help students to teach this area without difficulties in the future. While stochastics at university is mostly taught on an axiomatic basis, school mathematics requires a completely different approach. First of all intuitive ideas must be created that make learners familiar with chance, probability and other relevant mathematical concepts. Therefore a less strict and more application oriented approach is necessary. The lecture can be attended without any previous knowledge and is particularly recommended to students that have not or not sufficiently learned stochastics in their own school career.
