Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Contents: general and content-related aspects of application-oriented mathematics teaching at school. Both lower and upper secondary school topics will be covered, and different types of school (AHS, BHS) will also play a role, e.g. financial mathematics, business mathematics, linear optimization, biomathematics, error propagation, optimization tasks, modeling, difference equations. The topics to be covered will of course be closely related to the content of the corresponding lecture.

Aim: Preparation for a competent and well-reflected teaching concept of school mathematics topics from applied mathematics at secondary level.

Method: Mathematics can only be internalized by doing it yourself. The exercises are designed with this in mind: Independent work on given tasks based on the relted lecture, calculation of these tasks by the participants on the blackboard or with the computer in front of the group.

Assessment and permitted materials

Oral.

Notes at the blackboard presentation are allowed. Of course, self-developed computer files or technology materials brought by third parties can also be presented.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

For positive completion, the participants must have marked at least 2/3 of all tasks as solved over the entire semester (this entails constant checking of attendance), present a solution to a (partial) task on the blackboard at least twice and address the Regularly participate in discussions of assignments in the practice sessions.

In the case of positive grading, the panel performance is given the main weight, the other components are decisive if a decision has to be made between two grades. If the number of items marked with a cross is close to 2/3, the assessment resulting from the blackboard performance is lowered by one level.

Mandatory attendance.

Examination topics

The subject matter of the associated lecture is to be deepened and didactically reflected on with concrete tasks.
