Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

In this course we seek to lay down the algebraic foundations that will be needed for further studies in pure and applied mathematics. The topics include: groups and rings, polynomial rings, a number of basic results from field theory and the theory of modules. It is recommended to attend the supplementary course "Selected topics in
number theory" where elementary questions in number theory and geometry will be studied with the methods acquired in this course.
