Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Starting out from basic knowledge in Number Theory we will introduce p-adic numbers, study congruences in p-adic numbers and representations of numbers by quadratic forms. With these tools the famous Theorem of Minkowsi-Hasse will be proved: A quadratic form with rational coefficients has a rational zero if and only if it has a real zero and for all primes p a p-adic zero.
