Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This course is one of the two "large" introductory courses to be taken at the beginning of mathematical studies. The main subjects are the solution of systems of linear equations, the basic notions of the theory of vector spaces (basis, dimension, linear independence), and fundamental properties of scalar products (allowing to describe orthonormal bases, angles between vectors, etc.).
Assessment and permitted materials
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Having a sound basis in linear algebra is important for many further courses in mathematics as well as for various application areas. The goal of this course is to enable to participants to grasp the theoretical as well as the practical questions connected with linear equation systems.
Examination topics
The goal of this course (the book by G.Strang is also available in the English original format) is to convey the algebraic as well as the geometric
background of linear algebra.
