Aims, contents and method of the course

This course offers an introduction into EU anti-discrimination law with a focus on the protected grounds of sex and ethnic origin, covering equal treatment in the area of employment and in the access to goods and services.

Topics include:
- Legal framework of EU anti-discrimination law
- Basic concepts
- Justified differential treatment (e.g. positive action measures)
- Protected personal characteristics
- Access to goods and services
- sex-segregated goods and services

Assessment and permitted materials

Overall assessment
- Active participation in class (25 %)
- Written homework (25%)
- Written test in the last session (50%)

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Assessment key:
0-49 %: Nicht Genügend
50-59 %: Genügend
60-70 %: Befriedigend
71-84 %: Gut
85-100 %: Sehr Gut
