Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
During this lab course 3 detailed experiments in the field of Solid State Physics will be conducted on advanced materials using modern research equipment. These examples will cover advanced materials with reduced dimensionality, such as fullerenes and nanotubes, biomaterials, high temperature superconductors, nanostructured metal surfaces, and semiconductors for photovoltaics. Basic topical issues of the nanoscopic and mesoscopic physics such as quantum correlation effects on phonons and electrons, quantum transport phenomena, local field effects, charge carrier type, injection and separation as well as structural confinement in metal surfaces and hybrid systems will be investigated. Attending the parallel seminar 'Advanced Materials' is required. As part of this lab the basic knowledge for a bachelor thesis can be acquired and the themes issued. Candidates interested to perform a bachelor thesis are asked to provide a certificate for the needed 90 ECTS points. This certificate ("Sammelzeugnis") can be obtained in the study service center.
