Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
In-depth study of aspects of nuclear physics; measurement of nuclear properties and nuclear spectroycopis; ion beam physics; analysis with ion beams in materials science and the environment; mass spectrometry and isotope signatures; isotopes and ion beams in medicine; isotopes as tracers for environmental processes; accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS): methods and applications; new developments and alternative concepts in nuclear technology.
Assessment and permitted materials
Written module exam.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Only questions from the question lists available on Moodle will be asked for the Lecture. When compiling the exams, we may shorten long questions or clarify unclear questions. For the PUE, shortened and slightly modifies versions of the exercises will be asked.Points are awarded according to the criteria of correct calculations (“R+”, “R-”, 25%), knowledge and understanding of the physical concepts (“V+”, “V-”, 50%), comprehensibility of the presentation (“D+”, “D-”, 25%). The points “V” for understanding are given if the relevant terms and concepts appear in the answer; the points “D” for comprehensibility are not awarded if the answers are not suitable for verifying this understanding. 50% of the maximum number of points are required for a positive result. We have tried to base the number of points achievable for the questions on the length of time in minutes that you should need to answer the questions. E.g., for a 6-point question, you should need 6 minutes. There is a total of 90 points. No aids are allowed except for pen, paper and a non-programmable calculator.
