    Aims, contents and method of the course

    The course gives an introduction to various concepts of modern advanced materials. The scope of the course includes a selection of in-depth topics in solid-state physics: semiconductors, low-dimensional materials, magnetic materials and nanostructures, spintronics hetero-structures and phenomena.

    Assessment and permitted materials

    The course will be assessed via a written module examination held on-site in the open-book format (2 hours per exam). All printed materials, but not electronic devices, may be used. The examination will focus on assessing your understanding of the principles and phenomena in advanced materials.

    Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

    50% of the total points at the final exam.
    50 - 62.49% grade 4
    62.5 - 74.99% grade 3
    75 - 87.49% grade 2
    87.5 - 100% grade 1

    Examination topics

    The handouts from the lecture as well as additional literature will be provided during the lecture course and will be uploaded to Moodle. Some lectures will be additionally provided in a form of video recordings.
