Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Aims
Students passing this course will improve in their scientific presentation and reading skills: They will be able to independently research a scientific topic and give a short talk supported by media (presentation slides, blackboard) using adequate scientific vocabulary. This includes the ability to generate meaningful and reasonable visualizations (plots and sketches) and giving adequate and constructive feedback.
Contents
Topics include: nonlinear optics, supercontinuum generation, experimental design, optical frequency combs, phase- and intensity noise measurements

Assessment and permitted materials

Presentation of a talk and active participation in >80% of all meetings

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Presentation and thesis / paper were applicable.
Fundamentals of Photonics or Classical and Quantum Optics

Examination topics

See “Contents” section

Reading list

The literature will be discussed and given throughout the semester.
The seminar will be held in English.
