Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Aims: Competence in solving problems in General Relativity.
Contents: Discussion of problems in the context of the lecture course.
Method: Presentation of solutions by the students.

Assessment and permitted materials

Examination is inherent in the course. Students may use their prepared notes.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The set-up

We expect to cover three problems in each class. There is a 'Kreuzerl-Liste', which you can access via Moodle with a deadline of 3 hours before the class. The entries can be corrected up to the deadline as many times as you wish. No deletions or additions to the list will be possible after the deadline.

The tutorials for RK1 belong to the category "Lehrveranstaltung mit immanentem Prüfungscharakter", which implies that attendance is compulsory. The absence, for valid reasons, of up to two classes will be tolerated, no excuse is required. The "Kreuzerl" for the missed session will not be counted. All students who have crossed at least 50% of the problems will receive a credit of 3 Kreuzerls for possibly unattended sessions.

During the tutorials you will be called to the blackboard on a random basis. The accuracy and completeness of your solution, the understanding of the subject, as well as the clarity and intelligibility of the presentation will be assessed.

Marks

Students will be graded on a scale from 0 to 20, with the final result being translated to marks as follows:

up to 9.5 points: 5
in the range [10 - 11.5] points: 4
in the range [12 - 13.5] points: 3
in the range [14 - 16] points: 2
in the range [16.5 - 20] points: 1

One can obtain up to 10 points for the Kreuzerl and up to 10 points for the blackboard presentations.

Necessary conditions for a positive assessment are

to cross at least 50% of the problems,
to have made at least three blackboard presentations.
