Aims, contents and method of the course

: Structure, stability, and properties of materials, production and effects of crystal defects, elastic and plastic deformation, fracture mechanics, scattering at crystalline materials, the physics of alloys, phases in materials, diffusion, recovery and recrystallization.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Lecture to be used for diploma, bachelor and master studies. Recommended as preparation for "Materialphysikal. Praktikum" (Materials Physics lab course). Education in the most important phenomena of Materials Physics and of their physical backgrounds - Understanding of connections between structure and properties of materials.

Examination topics

Lecture presented via overhead projection, distribution of scripts with figures and images.
