Aims, contents and method of the course
Assessment and permitted materials
The written module examination will take place on site and will consist of questions on physical relationships, short calculation examples and examples from PUE Experimental Physics IV. At least half of the marks are required for a pass.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Basic understanding of physical and quantum statistics. Knowledge of the structure and the physical properties, as well as band structure of solids and the basic properties of modern materials.

Electrons in the solid state: free electron gas, energy band structure, electronic transport effects, spectroscopy
Modern materials: semiconductors, low-dimensional solids, nano-materials.
Statistical physics is treated in E IV only marginally and elaborated in more detail in T IV.
The exercises for the lecture offer the students the opportunity to deepen and extend the lecture content. For this purpose, examples and problems from the subject area of the lecture are treated as computational exercises. The PUE should also serve as preparation for the module exam and is strongly recommended for this purpose.
