Aims, contents and method of the course

Students will apply the knowledge of the lecture "Experimental Physics IV: Condensed Matter“ to concrete exercises and tasks. This will not only deepen their understanding but does also serve as perfect preparation for the module exam which will also contain similar exercises. The course will have the form of a mini test and/or an open discussion (both will be available online). Expected topics are common mistakes in this weeks solutions and any other open questions.

Assessment and permitted materials

The exercises for all courses are provided via Moodle on Monday evening the week before. The first exercises will be available at 10.10.2022. Students can upload their solutions until next Monday 08:30. A submitted exercise is valid if it can be considered as a proper attempt. The valid submissions are managed in a check mark. At submission students tick the corresponding exercises, and if necessary teachers will override the points and provide a short feedback. Please do always provide a universally readable pdf along your other submission formats. Official solutions by student or teacher will be uploaded to Moodle by Monday noon. The selection process will also consider readability, favored formats can be LaTex, Matlab, Mathematica, Phyton, Jupyter. The weekly discussion will focus on the official solutions and common mistakes in the submissions.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Every student enrolled after the 31.10 will be graded.
The grade of the course is based on the percentage x of submitted (and valid) exercises.
You can trace your current percentage in the check mark at Moodle.
5 x < 50%
4 50% <= x < 62.5%
3 62.5% <= x < 75%
2 75% <= x < 87.5%
1 87.5% <= x

The grade of the PUE has NO EFFECT on the grade of the modul (VO+PUE). The model exam is the only way to pass the entire modul.

Aims, contents and method of the course

The goal is to deepen the understanding of the subjects as well as the extension of the subjects of the lecture "Experimental Physics IV: Condensed Matter” by means of solving exercises. This exercise class is intended as a preparation for the module examination “E IV module examination Experimental Physics IV: Condensed Matter“ and is highly recommended for this purpose.

Assessment and permitted materials

The exercises for all courses are provided via Moodle on Monday evening the week before. The first exercises will be available on 10.10.2022. Students can upload their solutions until next Monday 08:00. If Monday is a holiday the deadline is shifted to Tuesday. A submitted exercise is valid if it is considered as a proper attempt. The valid submissions are managed in a cross list. On submission students tick the corresponding exercises, and if necessary teachers will override the points and provide short feedback. Please do always provide a universally readable pdf along with your other submission formats. Official solutions will be uploaded to Moodle by Monday afternoon. The weekly (online) discussion will focus on the solutions and common mistakes in the submissions.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

All students that are still registered after the 31th of October will be graded according to their crosses. If an exercise has been crossed but not prepared or cannot be explained, then the student loses five crosses for cheating.
The final grade is determined according to the following scheme:
x<=80%: 1
70%<=x<80% 2
60%<=x<70%: 3
50%<=x<60%: 4
x<50%: 5

Good blackboard presentations by the students and active participation in the exercise class can influence the final grade in a positive manner.

The final grade of the PUE does not affect the grade in the module exam. The only way to full fill the requirements of the module (VO+PUE) is by passing the module exam.
