Aims, contents and method of the course

Real gas and liquids, exactly solable models, phase transitions and symmtery breaking, critical phenomena and renoramalization group, cluster and high temperatur expansions, stochstic processes, transport phenomena, quantum Hall effect.

Assessment and permitted materials

Verbal examen

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Deepening of the knowledge of statistical Physics, learning of the principles of symmetry breaking and of the mechanisms to obtain phase transitions. Understanding modern aspects like the quantum Hall effect.

Examination topics

Trasfer matrix methods, renormalization group methods, cluster expansions, high temperature expansions, connectionns of statistical physics methods and euclidean quantum field theory.
