Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
We give an introduction into the formalism of density matrices and discuss several notions of quantum entropy. Furthermore we study the phenomenon of decoherence in single quantum systems and composite ones which are entangled. We consider finally the theory open quantum systems and present typical examples of quantum optics and particle physics.
Assessment and permitted materials
Examination on the lectures.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Study of the mathematical formalism of quantum physics with respect to the modern developments of quantum physics like quantum information and quantum communication.
Examination topics
Mathematics of theoretical physics.
