UPDATE:
Due to the COVD-19 related regulations, we have to switch the online format of the examinations. We will use the approach of "Prüfungsbogen zum Download” based on Moodle. During the examinations, you will login to Moodle using your standard login data. There you will be able to upload tasks in the form of a pdf file. The exam will be performed in the "open-book format”, so you are allowed to use any materials you want. But we are kindly asking you to avoid contact with your colleagues and friends during the examination. You will be able to write the answers using Word or in a hand-written form. Afterwards, all pages of your answers have to be compiled into one pdf file and uploaded using Moodle system within the examination time. In the emergency case, you can also send you results per mail (andrii.chumak@univie.ac.at or jani.kotakoski@univie.ac.at). The days and beginnings of the examinations stay the same as were defined, but the examinations will be prolonged for half an hour for you to compile the file and to upload it (so, in total you will have two and a half hours). After you will upload your answers they will be evaluated within 4 weeks or faster, and the results will be uploaded to u:space. Afterwards, you will have a possibility to provide your feedback and to ask questions in the form of jitsi (or similar) video conference. For this, separate appointments will have to be organized per e-mail separately with each lecturer (andrii.chumak@univie.ac.at or jani.kotakoski@univie.ac.at).

We did our best to keep the format of examination as close to the originally planned as possible. There will be 10 questions in the exam sheet from different topics of the lecture and might contain sub-questions (e.g. 3a, 3b). The questions can be the mixture of multiple-choice tests but with additional justifications (it is the requirement of the on-line format), theoretical questions, and practical exercises (for the students who have a mixed exam only). The threshold for the successful passing of the examination is fixed: 50%. The scoring scheme can be modified based on your results in this new format. But as a starting point we will use this scheme: Note 1: 87.5 – 100 %, Note 2: 75 - 87.49 %, Note 3: 62.5 - 74.99 %, Note 4: 50 – 62.49 %, Note 5: 0 – 49.99%.

Please let me know (andrii.chumak@univie.ac.at) if you have any questions about the format of examinations.

UPDATE: Due to the university closure during the COVID-19 pandemic, the lecture materials will be delivered to the students using the Moodle platform. There will also be a discussion board to allow the students to communicate with each other and pose questions to the lecturer. If the closure is extended beyond the Easter break, the lectures may move to an online platform. All students will be informed via email.
