Continuous assessment of course work

Weekly on Wednesdays (sometimes Thursdays) starting at 8:30. The first exercise will be held on Wednesday March 21, 2012.
ORGANISATION MEETING 2: Wednesday March 14, 2012, 10:00 h, Faculty of Physics, Group Physics of Nanostructured Materials, Room 32 (Ground Floor), distribution of exercises brochure including time table, and books.
The lab course is part of the "Materials Science Lab Course" (in total 11 h/week) which is organized in cooperation with the Institute of Physical Chemistry (Faculty of Chemistry). Participation requires additional registration of the course "Modern Methods of Characterising Materials" of the Faculty of Chemistry, 3 h/week. The lab course will be held in English, if desired.

Aims, contents and method of the course

A practical survey on Materials Physics and its most important methods.

Assessment and permitted materials

The judging of students is derived from the activity in preceding talk, the engagement during the experiments, and from the result of final questioning.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Correct handling of modern research facilities, good physical understanding, suitable documentation of experiments, and the specific preparation for a bachelor-, master-, diploma work , and/or a doctoral thesis on materials physics.

Examination topics

The lab course uses modern audio-visual tools and state-of-the-art research instruments.
