Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The course will provide an introduction to relativistic quantum field theory.
Topics include:
- quantization of free scalar, Dirac and electromagnetic fields;
- interacting fields, perturbation theory and elementary processes;
- loops and renormalization.
Exercise classes are an essential part of the course and attending them is strongly recommended.

Assessment and permitted materials

The exam will be a written "Modulprüfung" containing both theory questions and computational exercises. Neither notes nor textbooks will be allowed during the exam.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Prerequisites: Classical Mechanics, Electrodynamics, Quantum Mechanics, Introduction to Particle Physics

All topics discussed in the lecture notes as well as in the exercise classes.

Reading list

Lecture notes will be posted regularly. Further literature will be suggested in class.
