Aims, contents and method of the course

Path integral quantization, electromagnetic interaction in quantum theory, quantization of the free electromagnetic field, systems of identical particles and quantum field theory, basics of relativistic quantum field theory, rotation group, Lorentz group, Poincare group, Dirac equation, basics of quantum electrodynamics, perturbation theory, scattering theory.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

This course requires an excellent active command of the topics covered in the theory courses T1, T2, (partially T3, RT1) and the necessary mathematical methods (M1, M2). We shall extend and broaden the knowledge of theoretical quantum mechanics and give an introduction to the basic concepts of relativistic quantum field theory.
