Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The goal of the course is to make a connection between the physical effects and their analysis in the domains of classical-, quantum- and thermodynamics of oscillators (covering linear, nonlinear and multiple coupled oscillators).
These topics will be covered by student talks on theoretical and experimental results in these areas of research based on literature preselected by the teachers. Each seminar talk is prepared together with a manuscript that allows every participant to prepare in advance for the respective presentations.
Individual topics are selected in the first class based on the following subjects:
• Dynamics of (non)linear oscillators
• Open quantum dynamics of (non)linear oscillators
• Thermodynamic analysis of (non)-linear oscillators
• Synchronization of classical oscillators (Kuramoto model)
• Self-organization
• Quantum entanglement between coupled oscillators
• Heat transport between coupled oscillators

Assessment and permitted materials

Seminar talk and writing of a manuscript summarizing the presented main results.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

For the seminar talk and the written manuscript, the requirements will be clarified in the course based on a best practice example.

Examination topics

According to the presented subject
