Course registration and first class will be on October 1st, 13:00 in Josef-Stefan Hörsaal, Strudlhofgasse 4, 3. Stock, 1090 Wien. Registered students will be inscribed into the Moodle course. All exercises will be provided in the classes and via the Moodle platform.

Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Bond types, crystal systems, lattice dynamics and thermal properties, electronic structure and optical properties, transport properties and magnetism in solids as well as modern experimental methods in solid state physics with particular reference to recent results of current research will be discussed in the exercises.

Assessment and permitted materials

Success in problem solving (minimum 50% of the tasks have to be solved).

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Acquisition of knowledge of the structure and properties of solids with special consideration of problems in current research.

Examination topics

Solving problems from the field of solid state physics.
